Following the successful completion of our first housing development for Ongo Developments in 2018, GS Kelsey Construction was invited back to the Ashtree Close Estate six years later to deliver the design and construction of Phases 2 and 3. The appointment was secured through direct selection via the EN Procure Housing Framework — a testament to the strength of our long-term client relationship and proven delivery.

The completed phases provide a diverse mix of high-quality social rent homes, including one, two and three-bedroom bungalows and houses, carefully designed to mirror the architectural style and character of the original phase. The development enhances the existing estate while expanding much-needed affordable housing provision within the community.

In addition to the new homes, works included the installation of incoming mains services, private plot drainage, private drives and footpaths, street lighting, feature landscaping and the formation of a new adoptable estate road off Ashtree Close. Phase 3 also involved the demolition of existing flats and extensive communal landscaping to revitalise the wider estate environment.

Delivering the scheme presented significant logistical and safety challenges due to the site’s immediate proximity to a busy high street, with a primary school and doctors’ surgery located directly opposite. Through careful planning, stakeholder communication and rigorous site management, GS Kelsey ensured safe, considerate construction while maintaining programme and quality standards.

The result is a cohesive, sensitively designed extension to the estate that strengthens the local neighbourhood and reinforces our reputation for delivering high-quality social housing through collaborative partnership.
